But I still have to enter! :)

Growing up on the farm we obviously lived in the middle of nowhere. Middle of Nowhere = No Garbage Pickup. So from the time that I was an infant, my family has disposed of things in a very eco-friendly way. When I moved out on my own I continued to practice the same methods. Here's how it works:

All forms of trash/garbage is separated. Different cans or bags are used for each, so that they can easily be transported to the proper disposal location.

1. Paper Products & all burnable trash: the only real trash can filler; when full, out to the burn barrel and set on fire. 2. Food waste is collected in a bucket and dumped outside (in the garden, field, or, when necessary, over our hill) - Natural fertilizer! 3. Bottles, Cans, Glass all saved and taken to recycling center or drop offs. 4. Aluminum cans (energy drinks, pop, juice even) go to my sister - she has her kids crush them (makes a game out of it) and they turn them in for $$$.

Other things I do: Hang clothes outside. Reuse all plastic bags. Environmentally friendly cleaning products (use & sell). Grow a garden or support those who do (buy produce from small local stands). And the last one I'll mention, just to be fun: Feed the farm animals - leads to LOOOTS of natural fertilizer :pRosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06832886291533457609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-40451850712876780812008-07-11T18:45:00.000-04:002008-07-11T18:45:00.000-04:00Well, the green things I do (which could be vastly...Well, the green things I do (which could be vastly improved) are: bring reuseable bags to store when I remember; recycle at home when I remember; recycle all paper and cardboard at work; drink out of reuseable water bottles. I would contend that some of this will improve when I have my own place and I'm thinking about it more. :)
You can pick me because as a soon to be new wife I could use that cookbook and tea and reuseable bag to feed and shop for my husband; and then some evening I could surprise him with a date to Starbucks using the giftcard...good reasons, right?Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01797443528619232804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-70000049804127548672008-07-11T18:10:00.000-04:002008-07-11T18:10:00.000-04:00Uh, going green? Also, we use cloth napkins at dinner and use them a few times before washing (sometimes they hardly get soiled and can be folded over).
