They aren't cheap, but they are lined (very warm!), waterproof, and COMFORTABLE! I have this pair http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/35670957/c/5759.html which are dressy (I wore them almost every day last winter and get a TON of compliments on them) and a pair of simple black boots. Did I mention they are warm AND comfortable? Those Canadians know what they're doing (when it comes to sensible, fashionable winter footwear).Shelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15693259020034763319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-19290220789815484592008-11-06T10:03:00.000-05:002008-11-06T10:03:00.000-05:00If you can wait, wait until later Nov. or early De...If you can wait, wait until later Nov. or early Dec. and get the great new winter shoes on sale/clearance! I got a great pair of ankle boots (zip on the side) at Kohl's a couple years ago and love them -- they're way comfy for "girl" shoes.
For casual shoes, nothing beats the land's end all-weather moc (landsend.com or at your local Sears store)... I got 2 pairs on clearance a couple years ago in early Dec. and LIVE in them. I now have them in brown (off-brand, still love), blue, red, and coral for summer. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-79814893772089974812008-11-05T14:17:00.000-05:002008-11-05T14:17:00.000-05:00I think it's worth it to spend a little more on sh...I think it's worth it to spend a little more on shoes that will look better and fit well and last a long time. I've made some mistakes buying shoes that were cheap and hating them.

I had a fabulous pair of knee high black boots from Franco Sarto that lasted me for years. I was sad to finally have to give them up. I also had some Franco Sarto black flats that looked great with pants. However, some of their latest styles are kind of weird. Macy's carries that brand, I'm pretty sure.

I have some boots from 9 West that I like because they look good, but the heel is pretty high for just wearing around.

This is probably not helping you at all. LOVE THEM! I threw away all my stockings/panty hose YAHOOOOO! I love my boots so much that I went last year and bought two pair of flats brown and black. I have them all this year and they still look brand new! They are all comfortable. I got off the cheap shoe wagon and it's saved us money! If you really want a deal go the day after Thanksgiving. My boots ended up being $50 for both of them!Jean Marie Bibbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08382992391614158095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-2991911244654496912008-11-05T10:16:00.000-05:002008-11-05T10:16:00.000-05:00I bought a pair of insulated boots (black with zip...I bought a pair of insulated boots (black with zippers up the side, laces up the front the don't actually do anything and fuzzy insides) from Payless last year... and I wore them almost every day last winter (and plan to do the same this winter)! I can't remember if they were Isotoners or some other insulated brand but I'd definitely go looking for something along those lines.Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06115358795667247609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-5579564643038620122008-11-05T09:26:00.000-05:002008-11-05T09:26:00.000-05:00My favorite is Ugg boots. The only down side is cost and you can't wear them in the rain.Gretchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09612220877647459588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21071722.post-37792329338277282822008-11-05T07:49:00.000-05:002008-11-05T07:49:00.000-05:00I am so not a help in the shoe department.
