I've already admitted to coloring and highlighting my hair on a regular basis - something I was certain I would never do when I was younger. (That was before the gray hair. :)) And I look forward to those hair appointments every 10 weeks or so.
I've recently decided to be done plucking my eyebrows - I HATE doing it. It hurts and it's hard to get the right shape and not miss any of the strays. I never did it often enough. My solution is having them threaded. It's inexpensive (though still painful), it's done in about 5 minutes, and I love the results! The bonus for me is that they have a little shop in the grocery store so I periodically get it done after I shop.
That's my true confession today - I pay someone else to take care of my eyebrows.

Good for you! I remember saying in college that I would never color my hair again and I was on a real high horse about it until I started seeing so many grays and took the highlighting plunge in January. It's amazingly awesomely good for the self-esteem. :)
I want to know what grocery store has an eyebrow threading place!
Our Meijer has it in one of the shops at the front of the store!
Yes Catherine it definitely is amazing for the self-esteem! Funny how our ideals continually eveolve and change with life experience... :)
That's hysterical!
Toxic, toxic, TOXIC!! :D Says the one who colors because of the gray. bleck.
I have wanted to try threading. I'm the same, I wait too long because I hate plucking!
This is actually brilliant! Several years ago I decided to grow out my eyebrows and try to reshape them. When I had someone finally shape them for me (after months of looking like a Neanderthal woman) I felt much better. However, the shape has morphed over the years back into something I just can't stand. I wish it were easier. Maybe I'll look into threading.
I love the look of the threaded eyebrow, however, I can't get over the pain :) I also cringe a little bit when the spitty part of the thread makes it to my skin. Maybe I will see you in line!
Brooke, I've never had the spitty part touch me - that would totally gross me out!!! The pain, for me, has gotten better the more times I've done it - maybe I just expect it now, I don't know. :)
hi alaina, love your post! i JUST succombed to coloring and highlighting for the first time in four years - decided that if i'm gonna raise a two-year-old i better look a little younger! ;-p
AND i'm a fan of threading. plucking is for the birds! i first learned about it in British Columbia ten years ago, and i think it's ALL THAT. so glad it has arrived in middle-america. i always feel like a brand new woman after getting my brows threaded. tee hee...small pleasures! :-)
we leave on friday! so excited. i'll keep ya posted through the blog - take care!
