Homeschool

Since education decisions for next year are up in the air and because I think the structure and discipline will be good for the boys and for me, we are homeschooling the two-three days a week that the boys are not at preschool. We are using Alpha Omega preschool curriculum which I really like - they usually have a few workbook pages, crafts, songs, stories, memory verses, letters, numbers etc. It's a nice variety and takes 1 -2 hours. The workbook pages are way too easy for them at the moment so I'm sure they will fly through some of the lessons but they love them!

I'm working to get more organized and ready for each day. I will admit that the crafts are a bit daunting for me - just not my thing. :) But I'm excited to see how it will all work and the boys enthusiasm is inspiring. So today (while the boys are at school at Ty is napping) is my get-the-school-corner-ready day. :) I headed to the store and picked up several things and have been gathering craft supplies and school supplies from around the house to a more central location. While we have already started homeschool, I'm hoping tomorrow will be our more formal start. Praying for a great year of learning and growing together and praying for lots of patience! :)

It is challenging, especially when attitudes are less than desireable. However, homeschooling is extremely rewarding and is an investment in your kids. You will do an awesome job. Keep us posted!

Do keep us posted. We want to home school our children so I always enjoy learning how others do.

Glad the boys are enjoying it.

Alaina - We're 8 days into homeschool K at our house. Maybe we should plan a field trip for the kids to visit each other! So far, the main thing I've learned is that God is going to use this to shape my character. That's not fair; I thought it would be all about the girls. We should chat sometime about it. I thought Sarah Grace would be my eager student but I'm meeting resistance at every turn. I hope your first "official" day is fun tomorrow!

I want to see the A/O program sometime -- I don't think I've been able to see it in person.

I hope it goes well for you. I was homeschooled for all 12 years, and plan to do the same with mine. Good luck to you! :)
