To Whom It May Concern

Dear Door-to-door salesmen:

1) Don't ever, ever ring my doorbell early in the afternoon; my kids are napping.
2) I will be grumpy if you do.
3) If your product is SO good, have a brochure to leave me.
4) If you don't have a brochure, I will never buy from you.
5) I'm not going to buy something expensive without consulting my husband.
6) I will pretty much never buy anything over $5 at the door.
7) I will only buy things from neighbor kids.
8) Don't act like you know me.
9) Don't flatter me. It won't work.
10) I can say no and I mean no.
11) Don't be rude when I decline your offer.
12) Actually, don't bother to come at all.

Sincerely,
An annoyed mother, homeowner, and consumer

how about the no soliciting rules that are so prevalent? Perhaps you could threaten to sic the police on him too, while you're at it.

My mother has this awful story about a saleman that stopped by when I was very little. In trying to make pleasant small talk he said, "What an adorable grandson you have!" Mom said, "First of all, she's a girl and second, she's my daughter!"

Needless to say, he didn't make any sales at our home!

Salespeople annoy the dickens out of me.

Especially when they call me on my cell-phone.

They don't come to our door, very much. Probably because of the patrol car in the driveway.

We had some guy come to the door the other day and throw out the "my son has autism" card. Yes of course I feel bad that your son has autism but no, I will not buy your stupid product because you threw that out at us!

This cracks me up!

Ironically, I've been working on being nicer to sales people lately. Aren't they usually just "poor" college kids doing the stupid job they got hired for? =) Even kirby. And by the way - NEVER let a kirby person in your house unless you want them to be there for the next 3 to 4 hours (even when told at 15 minute increments THE ENTIRE TIME that I'm not buying anything).

I guess I live out in the boondocks because nobody comes door to door here except Jehovah witness's.
Love your list, though, so true.
