A GIVEAWAY!

**THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED - THANKS FOR ENTERING! I WILL ANNOUNCE THE WINNER BY SATURDAY MORNING!**
In honor of my blog make-over, I decided to have a GIVEAWAY!

I've been debating what to give but finally decided on:

1 - box of tea
1 - $5 Starbucks giftcard
1 - reusable bag
1 - cookbook (yet to be determined)

I chose tea because I have been loving ice tea this summer - made in my awesome ice tea maker, I chose Starbucks because I love their frappucinos (so summery!), I chose a reusable bag because they are awesome and green, and I chose a cookbook because I just can't have a giveaway without one.

One winner will get the whole prize package!

Here's how to enter...leave a comment on this post telling me one eco-friendly thing you do! That's it! Oh and one entry per person. You do not have to be a blogger to win just make sure I have a way to contact you! I will leave the drawing open until Tuesday, July 15. The winner will be selected randomly. Have fun!
**Thank you for all your kind comments about my new look and name. I did design it myself using scrapbook paper for the header from shabbyprincess.com - it took me awhile because I'm not very computer savvy. :)**

I'm so excited! It's making me want to do a bloggy giveaway (but I don't have anything good to give away at the moment).

Let's see, what do I do? Well, although I don't take my own bags to the store I do save all the plastic grocery bags and take them back to the store to recycle

Love the new look!

Here is one thing we do: Instead of using the brand new dryer my in-laws gave us, which one uses a lot electricity and two really heats up the house in the summer, we have been putting the clothes out on the clothes line. It really doesn't take too long, and the clothes usually don't ever need to be ironed, which would again heat up the house use even more power. One other benefit? I get a little extra work on tan as I hang up/take down the clothes.

Yay for the environment. We bought a reel mower for our yard. No carbon emissions except from me!! And it's a great workout!!

When I go to the grocery store I usually walk and take a reusable bag.

groovy prize pack.. that anonymous commentor sure had a chip on his/ her shoulder! haha.. poor thing! my enviro deed: drinking filterd instead of bottled water!

My environmental deed: I don't mow the grass, I just let it get loooooong! (Ha ha ha.) I work in a job with no a/c when I work... and we drive a hybrid car that gets over 40 mpg when it's not in its best shape (has gotten over 50)...

Your new site looks fabulous! A really good green tip I can offer is to stay away from companies who use styrofoam! they keep the drinks colder but it is oh so bad on the environment!

one of the things we do is recycle our newspapers.
i love the blog layout!

if i win, i'm pretty sure you know my contact information.:)

We compost and grow our own garden and dry our clothes outdoors. I wish we could have a reel mower like merrilee does, but we have to mow such a large area to keep the bugs away that we'd be spending all our time doing that (if I ever have a city lot I'll get one, though).

I have my own bags I use at the grocery store reusable. I recycle all water bottles. I buy used clothes and then donate back.

I use cloth diapers instead of disposable... it's environmentally friendly, but I do it for financial reasons. :)

ME ME ME!!! :) Love the new look by the way - very creative and fresh!

If I have to get plastic bags at the grocery store, I alwas reuse them, as bathroom trashbags, lunchbags, etc.

our daycare typically uses plastic bags for their empty cartons, sippy cups, etc. We have our own bag that we use and it saves on plastic bags.

Love the new look. Please enter me. I use a push mower to mow the lawn We also use paper bags to put our garbage in instead of plastic.

Eco-friendly: I talk to plants! :) (get it? friendly? hahaha!)

um. anyways. I try to reuse all my plastic bags? So unoriginal I know. But I can't think of anything else. which is kind of sad!

cool giveaway! :)

things we do:
ride our bikes whenever possible instead of using the car

I use cloth bags for grocerys

use a clothes rack to dry clothes (our deck in the back can look a tad "redneck") :)

cloth napkins instead of paper

I do more stuff, it's fun once you start & realize it's not hard at all to give up some of the things that are so wasteful.

Hmmmm.....I take my own bags to the grocery store now. I am teaching the boys that lights stay off until it is dark out and we "wait until 8" to run our laundry and dishwasher (it's a CT thing). We do not run the water when we brush our teeth. Don't run hot water in the laundry, just warm. I buy all organic cleaners and most of our food. That's all I can think of right now. :-)

I take the train downtown instead of driving my SUV. This may seem like a baby step bit for the girl who HATES public transportation...this is HUGE.

Pick me. :)

May I enter? :) I'll let you keep the cookbook! :) (unless it's a breakfast, grill, or dessert cookbook - I'll use that!)

1) I print documents double-sided (it cuts the paper use in half), 2) read as much as I can online, and 3) always recycle no-longer-needed documents. 4) I also hate to throw away any documents I may later print off, and 5) all that extra paper insulates my office (okay, so that's probably not a valid point). 6) I recycle all my food containers (pop cans, yogurt containers, etc.) in our new recycle bin. 7) I also leave my lights off all day (I hate overhead lights anyway) and 8) I've removed half the bulbs anyway, so at night I only use half the energy. 9) I collect coffee grounds from the Starbucks across the street for my lawn and garden.

And that's all at the office! :)

We recycle everything that we can no matter how small :) Thank you for the giveaway!

There are two things I do, but it's not for the environment that I do them, it's for health and savings: I use Basic H cleaner because it's safe for our house and is natural with no chemicals. Also, we use cloth napkins at dinner and use them a few times before washing (sometimes they hardly get soiled and can be folded over). We've used a lot less paper napkins this way.

Uh, going green? I am not too far into it yet honestly. Because I am so not a planner as in your next post. But we are slowly changing out lightbulbs to the longer lasting, less energy ones. Does that count? I hope so!!

Well, the green things I do (which could be vastly improved) are: bring reuseable bags to store when I remember; recycle at home when I remember; recycle all paper and cardboard at work; drink out of reuseable water bottles. I would contend that some of this will improve when I have my own place and I'm thinking about it more. :)
You can pick me because as a soon to be new wife I could use that cookbook and tea and reuseable bag to feed and shop for my husband; and then some evening I could surprise him with a date to Starbucks using the giftcard...good reasons, right?

Well, I'm far away from Indy, so winning is not really an option. But I still have to enter! :)

Growing up on the farm we obviously lived in the middle of nowhere. Middle of Nowhere = No Garbage Pickup. So from the time that I was an infant, my family has disposed of things in a very eco-friendly way. When I moved out on my own I continued to practice the same methods. Here's how it works:

All forms of trash/garbage is separated. Different cans or bags are used for each, so that they can easily be transported to the proper disposal location.

1. Paper Products & all burnable trash: the only real trash can filler; when full, out to the burn barrel and set on fire. 2. Food waste is collected in a bucket and dumped outside (in the garden, field, or, when necessary, over our hill) - Natural fertilizer! 3. Bottles, Cans, Glass all saved and taken to recycling center or drop offs. 4. Aluminum cans (energy drinks, pop, juice even) go to my sister - she has her kids crush them (makes a game out of it) and they turn them in for $$$.

Other things I do: Hang clothes outside. Reuse all plastic bags. Environmentally friendly cleaning products (use & sell). Grow a garden or support those who do (buy produce from small local stands). And the last one I'll mention, just to be fun: Feed the farm animals - leads to LOOOTS of natural fertilizer :p

I use my own bags when shopping, recycle all my paper, and compost leftover food or give it to our chickens.

Cool giveaway! We use our own grocery bags, cloth diapers, and we recycle. Plus we just bought a mini van instead of a huge gass guzzling SUV. :)

We recycle aluminum, cardboard, plastic and paper. We stopped getting the newspaper and use the internet instead. (Save the trees!) I reuse formula cans and gift bags.

Great idea for a giveaway! Congrats on the new design. Very pretty.

Your new look is TOTALLY AWESOME! So girly and cute, yet not overly done. Good job!

As for being eco-friendly...we recycle as much as possible. I have been considering reusable bags for a while now, and if I win I can see if I will like it! :)

I use cloth bags while grocery shopping. Some of the stores give you points on their rewards cards for bringing in your own bags.

I LOVE your new look!!! And what a cool giveaway. One eco-thing we do mow our grass with a manual lawnmower - no gas! It makes for hard work if it gets too long though!
