Motivation...Please?!

Man, what is it about the warm weather?! I don't want to do anything - not even cook - which is saying a lot for me. I do want to eat though which is proving problematic and the kids and husband, well, they kind of insist upon it as well. :) I think I'm just a little out of sorts this week and super tired and I figured out why. Anyway...

I have a to-do list as long as my arm and don't really want to do any of it. I'm thinking that when the kids run out of clothes, I'll just send them to the unfolded baskets and have them sort through to find something to wear. They'll love that.

And seriously, if I have to hear crying over another fake injury, I'm going to cry! :) This is what I hear constantly, "He touched me", "Wahhhh", "Look, Mom, right here" (as I strain to see the microscopic wound). We are working on toughness this summer and I'm teaching them to SAY, "Ouch! That hurt!" and be done (unless it's a serious injury, of course and I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much! :)). Lest you think, I'm completely heartless, I will be happy to tell them how sorry I am that they are hurt and give them a hug or even kiss said fake owie, but I will not stand for 10 minutes of wailing over nothing. And don't even think that a band-aid will fix it - they hate band-aids - even the character ones. I know, weird kids. And I know, mean mom.

Seriously, is there any ice cream around here? I'm going to have 2 helpings with chocolate and then I will be armed and ready to kiss away more boo-boos, come up with a supper plan, and fold some clothes. Who am I kidding...I'm taking a nap first. :)

Wow. If I didn't know better, I would think I was reading my own blog. I'm having company in 2 hours and my house is a disaster. All the kids are asleep, so you would think I would be scurrying around the house trying to clean up. Nope. I'm tired of being productive. I just want to waste a little bit of time.

It sounds like my kids are normal. They have the very same conversations with each other that your kids have. What a relief! I thought we were just raising sissy girls! It must just be a stage :).

I would love it if we could get together soon! I actually have a car now - as of last week we got it driveable (YEAH!!!). So you can come here, or I can come there - whatever suits you best! Or... (drumroll, please) we could leave the kiddos behind and meet for dinner - or if you wanted to wait until after bedtime, meet for dessert! I hope tomorrow is a better day. For me too ;)

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who can not get motivated. I have been putting off my to do list for days (that is why I am writing this instead of cleaning my scrap room)!

Completely normal.

I am putting off packing. Maybe, just maybe, tonight will be the night I start.

oh I hear you! One of mine is awful about "he TOUCHED ME, he LOOKED at ME". Oh the horror. :) It's so frustrating when they act like that. We have been working on not whining...it's going to a while for him to stop I think. ugh! The joys of being a Mom. :)

Hope you have a good day today!

Love it!! I am sympathizing honest, but I'm also laughing. Hope the energy kicks in soon. And if it does, will you send some my way please?

Maybe we have Nashville-itus: A strong desire to go back on vacation, hang out and chat with friends, and swim in a pool with our kids all day.

Must be something going around. . . I am at my wits end with complaints, sibling rivalry, whining, and fake injuries. A mother can only take so much! In addition to teaching the kiddos to suck it up, I plan to throw in some lessons on kindness and prefering others before ourselves :) Now, on to that nap you described. . .

Just a hint... if you keep kissing fake boo boos and saying you're sorry they got hurt, they will keep crying over nothing, because they continue to get the attention they want when they do so. It's not a phase, or stage. When they get older they will hide it better in socially acceptable ways, but they will always be whimps.

Ignoring them is the best way, or get a magic cure (hot sauce, or straight flaxseed oil,) everytime they cry over nothing, say 'well, here this will make you feel better, open up!' If you're consistant they will stop crying over nothing.

Trust me, it really does works. Jesse is only 13 months, but he can fall off his little push car, smack his head on the concret and make me come running not caring if I make him a whipm this once... and he'll get up and walk away like it's nothing.

Heat does that to me too.

I just dropped any pretense of caring about non-injuries. Seriously, I greet most of them with a-"Eh, I think you'll live". Now they either go to their father for sympathy (who of course is not home enough to find it annoying) or ignore it and later I find bruises that I never knew about. It sounds cold, but my guys wrestle 24/7. They're gonna get hurt. I usually tell them if they don't want to get hurt, stop wrestling.

Come to think if it, two of them now have come to me with bloody lips. No tears, just asking what they should do about the blood coming forth. That surprised even me.
