The Day Continued

So, sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying. :) We got a call at 7p.m. as the boys were getting their baths. The person on the other end said that the owners of the apartment need to show it (nobody even told us this was a possibility). I asked if it could be tomorrow and they said that it had to be tonight. I explained that I have two children that need to go to bed. He said that they didn’t want to inconvenience us (I’m thinking, yeah right!) and they could come in 1 hour or 1 ½ hours. I said fine (what was I supposed to say) and said 1 hour. 1 hour is nearly up and if they aren’t here by 8:15, the boys are going to bed. We had to clean up the apartment complete with vacuuming because the boys had bread crumbs everywhere! Well, at least it will be clean for tomorrow…all of 5 minutes before the boys have it a wreck again. :) Andrew laughs at me because I pick the toys all up at least twice a day – it makes me feel better!

Well, thankfully the people have come and gone. They were on time and it only took about 5 minutes. After a 45 minute bedtime battle (not too bad :), the boys are both asleep. The trouble with mobile kids is that you can’t just lay them down and leave them there. Calvin actually fell asleep first which is truly remarkable. We gave them both some Tylenol before bed in hopes that they will sleep better. We are praying they both will sleep through the night without trouble and that we will have a good day tomorrow.

We found a supermarket on our walk this afternoon which was great! It has all the baby food and everything we will need for the rest of our time here. It is only a few blocks away…wish we had known about it sooner! There are actually several stores – it’s called The Promenade and is like a mall. They often have the supermarkets in malls which is so different than home.

We are having pizza for dinner…the frozen variety. We paid way too much for it but we’ve really been craving pizza so figured it was worth it! We’ll see, it probably tastes like cardboard. :) We’ll let you know tomorrow.

I pick up toys all day too. I know it's futile because they will just be all over the place again a few minutes later, but otherwise I feel like chaos is encroaching! So maybe it is weird, but at least you are not alone! :)

I'm glad I am not the only one who has days like these:) It really is amazing how much "stuff" can make life crazy at times, don't you think?! You both are doing a wonderful job and no doubt these have been the best days of your boy's lives (with many more to come)!!
We are praying for good sleep for all of you these next few days as you prepare to travel.

I am praying for you :)
Listen to everyone's advice (as I am not a parent... hehee I can't tell you much in that way), and know that I have NO doubts that you are doing fine in parenting. You will make it!!!
Praying for amazing sleep no matter how short or long to give you a refreshed perspective tomorrow.

I am not a parent - however, whenever I have kids with me - or at their house, I am CONSTANTLY picking up toys. I agree with everyone else - it just makes you feel better. - Heather

I've been reading your blog for the last several days (somehow I wasn't able to read it consistently, so have done a bit of "cramming"...hmmm, perhaps Calvin and Patrick's cousin Jaden has something to do with that :)) As I read the latest, my heart just went out to you guys. It is definitely not easy being a mom (or dad, I'm sure), but it is so worth it. Those "horrible" days happen to all of us (anyone who says otherwise is either lying or delusional!) but they somehow seem to disappear in the light of a huge smile or a look into those little ones big eyes--I promise! Hang in there; know that you are thought about and loved.

Love, Becca (Andrew's cousin :))

You guys are in our prayers! Lack of sleep and just adjusting in general will make for hard days! You guys are doing so well, though. We are really looking forward to seeing you four.

And, as for toys, it's like "pick your evil" - you either pick up all day and are exhausted or you are forced to live with stress caused by chaos. Sigh ...
