Wow, what a holiday season! We had our final Christmas party tonight - our annual young couples' Christmas party. We've been having it long enough that not all of us still fit in the "young" category. :) But we are all young at heart!
I have lots of pictures from our celebration with my family yesterday. It was such a great time opening gifts, enjoying wonderful food, and playing games. New Year's Eve, we enjoyed having my siblings and their spouses over for a relaxed party to ring in the new year. I think I'll try to put together a slideshow of our open house, decorations, and Christmas - that way it won't be a post with 25 pictures.
I really enjoyed my unannounced blog break - I was really struggling with burn out in November and December and seriously debated exiting the blog world but decided that I needed to start with some time off. It was a good decision. Now I'm ready for another year of blogging. And I designed a new look for the start of the new year. :) I'm planning to continue Keeping Creative Kitchens for awhile longer and see how it goes. I'll also try to post more pictures etc. on the boys' blog and continue posting recipes on my recipe blog.
The start of January means the end of the super long hours for my husband for which I am truly grateful. We plan to celebrate with dinner out sometime soon at the restaurant he took me to the night he proposed - someone gave us a gift card that we've been waiting to use! He will still work late a couple of nights a week but it won't be every day.
I feel a little like I'm coming out of a 4 or 5 month fog. I'm ready to de-junk the house, clean it from top to bottom, organize, and get back into a routine. Yep, I'm ready. :)

Wow! I didn't know that you had that many blogs. I used to have four but after returning to work fulltime I let 3 of them go.
I love the changes to this one.
Welcome back!
I can empathize with the hubby working long hours. I can't wait until my husband is done with his extra projects...
Have a lovely date and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Love the new look - can you pass some of the blogging motivation over here? :)
Hi--It's been awhile since I've commented, but I find encouragement in reading your blog. Thank you also for your prayers for us--I'm still praying that the second trip comes soon. Blessings!
So glad you had a good holiday season. We had a fun time as well, but I'm ready for some rest. Glad Andrew won't be working so much now. Unfortunately, January means the start of long hours for us =), but I'm so thankful for a job that I don't even care - yet, that is - ask me again in a couple of months ;). Let's get together soon!
So glad you are going to continue to blog! It is such a joy to read your posts and keep up with your family. I meant to send you all a Christmas card, but it just didn't happen this year. Oh well, you're in the book for next year!
Forgot to ask...what did you use to design your site? I love your new look and want to do something new for my blog. Thanks!
I love the new look! And I'm glad you aren't going to completely leave blog-land. I love that I can stay up-to-date with your lives!
