My sister, BIL, SIL, and I drove up north to where Steph lives to pick blueberries yesterday! It was totally worth the very long drive and long day. The picking was great, the blueberries were beautiful, and the price was right. We paid $1.50/lb. for u-pick organic blueberries.
Aren't they beautiful?!
We picked for about 2 1/2 hours and in that time I was able to get nearly 25 lbs. My sister gave me a few more pounds so I ended up with 30 1/2 lbs. Most of that went straight into the freezer (Andrew helped me with that!) and some will be for eating and some will be for a fresh blueberry cobbler and some will be for blueberry scones! :) We grew up picking blueberries and for me it's a summer time must - I'm always disappointed if I don't get to go. It's hard work but the end result is something to be enjoyed for the rest of the year. I'll definitely be headed up that way next year for more blueberries!
A few of the many bags - we froze 3 cup and 6 cup bags.
Peach and raspberry seasons are next, so hopefully I will be adding both of those fruits to our freezer, too. I love summer!

Where did you go? I was going to pick this year and didn't... I bought 6 lbs at Meijer, but... Sigh.
Yummy! There aren't many fruit picking places around here... it's just too cold most of the year. I should check further south of us in New Mexico...
That's great! We were planning to pick blueberries at Spencer Farm in Noblesville but birds ate their crop. Maybe we'll do raspberries there. I didn't realize Indiana had peaches! I'm planning to buy a huge amount when we're in South Carolina next month.
Just stopping by to let you know that I nominated you for the "One Lovely Blog Award",please stop by my blog and check it out!
Little man loves blueberries! He saw Dora eat them as a snack and now they are an all star snack in his book.
yummy! Where did you go? Is it up close to my area? please, please let it be so! :)
Those are beautiful blueberries!!! I agree, I love fresh veggies and fruits in the summer and I love preserving them to enjoy later!!! It's awesome how much preserving you do, I'm always amazed!!!!
Ann, yes, very close to your area, I think. I really wanted to stop and see you but time was rather tight - a quick up and back. :) There is probably 1-2 weeks left of picking. Totally worth it!
Jenny, it's a good 3 hours up there in the northern part of the state...I can give you specifics if you want!
YUM! We're going berry picking tomorrow!
