Fashion Help

Please someone tell me what kind of shoes to buy for the winter. I've worn out about four pairs and don't really have any cool weather shoes. I looked today to replace with one pair of black, one pair of brown, and/or one pair of casual boots and I could not figure out what works. HELP!!! Post links, describe the right style...I just don't know...I find the selection overwhelming all the while not really liking much...

I am so not a help in the shoe department. But I'm going to come back and see what advise you get. I need some myself:)

My favorite is Ugg boots. I won't be taking mine off until spring. They are sooo comfy. The only down side is cost and you can't wear them in the rain.

I bought a pair of insulated boots (black with zippers up the side, laces up the front the don't actually do anything and fuzzy insides) from Payless last year... and I wore them almost every day last winter (and plan to do the same this winter)! I can't remember if they were Isotoners or some other insulated brand but I'd definitely go looking for something along those lines.

I went two years ago and shopped at Shoe Carnival (buy one get one 1/2 price) and got two pair of boots black and brown (calve high) with a small heel- 1-1.5 inch with rubber soles. LOVE THEM! I threw away all my stockings/panty hose YAHOOOOO! I love my boots so much that I went last year and bought two pair of flats brown and black. I have them all this year and they still look brand new! They are all comfortable. I got off the cheap shoe wagon and it's saved us money! If you really want a deal go the day after Thanksgiving. My boots ended up being $50 for both of them!

I agree-one of the nice things about living in Indiana is that I get to wear my boots a lot!

I think it's worth it to spend a little more on shoes that will look better and fit well and last a long time. I've made some mistakes buying shoes that were cheap and hating them.

I had a fabulous pair of knee high black boots from Franco Sarto that lasted me for years. I was sad to finally have to give them up. I also had some Franco Sarto black flats that looked great with pants. However, some of their latest styles are kind of weird. Macy's carries that brand, I'm pretty sure.

I have some boots from 9 West that I like because they look good, but the heel is pretty high for just wearing around.

This is probably not helping you at all. Let us know what you find!

If you can wait, wait until later Nov. or early Dec. and get the great new winter shoes on sale/clearance! I got a great pair of ankle boots (zip on the side) at Kohl's a couple years ago and love them -- they're way comfy for "girl" shoes.
For casual shoes, nothing beats the land's end all-weather moc (landsend.com or at your local Sears store)... I got 2 pairs on clearance a couple years ago in early Dec. and LIVE in them. I now have them in brown (off-brand, still love), blue, red, and coral for summer. :)

After growing up in harsh Iowa winters and coming to the grown-up conclusion that you should invest in comfortable shoes that will last a long time (if it is possible to do so financially), in the last 2 years I've purchased two pairs of La Canadienne (from Zappos). They aren't cheap, but they are lined (very warm!), waterproof, and COMFORTABLE! I have this pair http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/35670957/c/5759.html which are dressy (I wore them almost every day last winter and get a TON of compliments on them) and a pair of simple black boots. Did I mention they are warm AND comfortable? Those Canadians know what they're doing (when it comes to sensible, fashionable winter footwear).
