Wardrobe Must-Haves

I've been thinking about my personal style (or lack thereof :)) and thought about what things I really love to have in my wardrobe. These are a few things that give me that pick-me-up when I feel old, fat, tired or otherwise:) -

1) A great pair of jeans.
2) Dangly earings.
3) The perfect pair of heels.
4) A favorite white shirt and black shirt.
5) Bright pink nail polish.

I'm not really much of a dress or skirt person but having a couple that make me feel pretty and feminine is a must. I've found that the older I've gotten the more classic pieces are added to my wardrobe. Some things just aren't meant to be worn past age 21 and knowing that is a key to successful dressing. So, what things do you always like to have?

I agree with the jeans. Other must haves for me are: hoody sweat shirts, capri pants, comfortable bra. (I actually think the last one is the most important)

I'm realizing as I get older that I am a skirt person. So easy to toss on and wear around (but only in the summer!) My fashions musts would be A-line skirts and anything with darts. However, I also agree with Paula in the quest for the comfortable bra that doesn't cost over $30. I'm still looking.....

When it gets warm out, I must have some decent, loose capri pants. They are less horrifying on someone my size and age than shorts, and a great deal cooler than pants. :)

I agree with the jeans and the classic white/black shirts. I too have found that as I get older it is best to have a wardrobe of classics that rarely go out of style. For cooler weather one of my must haves are solid color sweater sets (love Eddie Bauer!). I find they look great with jeans, dress slacks, or skirts.

My must-have this summer is a cute brown jacket that fits snuggly but not too tight. It goes with everything from Khakis to jeans to black pants (I actually like the look of brown and black together-- as long as you look like you did it intentionally :) ). And it adds a bit of "zip" (pun intended) to the wardrobe.
I got mine at Walmart (with 3/4 sleeves) for only 12 bucks. I've gotten my money's worth already!

Oh wardrobe choices....I guess my "must haves" are a pair of jeans that don't make my butt look the size of Texas, a comfortable pair of black dress pants that don't require ironing, cute heels that don't look like my grandma's or have 5 inch heals, and underwear that fits just right. This last item seems to be hard to find at the moment as sadly Victoria's Secret is changing the cut of their undies. Sigh.

Definitely everything you listed! Plus the perfect shade of lipstick that doesn't come off.

And a simple strapless black dress for those nights when you must look amazing.

I think you just described my perfect outfit. :) AS for something that I have to have in my wardrobe, though it's probably not 'successful' dressing.. it's just a comfort thing ... a sweatshirt, it must be at least one size too big, preferably two. They are love. ;) Curling up with a good book or an old movie, with a hot cup of coffee, in one of those...bliss!
