Please Excuse Our House

I've noticed with some frustration that kids are hard on furniture, carpet, well pretty much everything in the house. :) I can't help but shake my head and sigh at the chaos we call home. I used to clean my house and it stayed clean for quite awhile, now I give it 10 minutes before it's a disaster zone again.

It's a little overwhelming to NEVER have a completely clean home at the same time. I'm working on appreciating the small things that get done, on using the few minutes here and there to tackle small projects, and on recognizing that this is a phase of life. I don't wish it away, I just wish it clean. :) And to the boys' credit, they are learning to help unload the dishwasher, clean up the toys, and other small chores. It makes them feel important - it doesn't save me time, but it's developing responsibility in them and is good training.

So if you visit our house anytime soon...please don't mind the mess, we know it's there and likely it's stressing me out. :) But please, don't get me wrong, it's totally worth it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. My kids are an awesome gift - mess and all!!

Well stated, my friend.

It's amazing how lived in a house gets when you are actually living there. That's what I tell myself anyway. People with perfect houses probably aren't living at home- if you know what I mean.

Oh, I know. The mess honestly makes me feel crazy at times. We stay home to get things done and the house gets wrecked. WE leave and there is work waiting at home, not getting done. Any way you choose, it's work. Such a season. And that is what I remind myself. The constant mess is not forever....:)
