Brands

Well, moving right along from my rather boring post yesterday...:)

Are you a "brand snob"? I've been contemplating this question and trying to determine if I am. The answer is not clear cut. I think I am definitely particular about brands on some things but not on others.

Brands:
Cereal (Any name brand - Kelloggs, General Mills etc.)
Deoderant (Lady's Speedstick)
Cosmetics (Maybelline, Mary Kay, L'Oreal - I will sometimes try other brands)
Toilet Paper (Charmin all the way!)
Dish & Dishwasher Detergent (Dawn & Electrasol)
Laundry Detergent (Tide but sometimes I will buy the Costco brand because it's similar and cheaper)
Diapers (Huggies - the other brands leaked for my boys)
Q-Tips (has to be the real thing)
Toothpaste (Crest Whitening Expressions Herbal Mint - nothing to do with the whitening just the flavor! I am trying to not care about this one and use Colgate since we have several tubes.)
Coke (No Pepsi.)

Things I don't care so much about:
Canned Vegetables (although I don't normally buy the "ugly" cans that are the very cheapest :))
Bread
Contact Solution
Wipes
Cheese
Pretzels
Paper Towels (although I prefer Bounty or Vive)
Napkins
Tissues
Shampoo & Conditioner

Anyway, you get the idea. I'm not really sure why I care so much about some of them - others are tried and true. And I should clarify that I could make do without the brand names if I needed to, I try not to be too die hard. :) So how about you, dear readers...are you "brand snobs" on anything? Please share!

That is really interesting. I am like you, I am on some things and not on others. When we brought Hannah home from the hospital I had three different families tell me they wer "Pampers" families. I didn't know why, but sure enough that is all I buy now. Maybe I will check out the Huggies, it would be a lot more convenient for me since they sell them at Costco.

I think a lot of it has to do with what products you were raised using... there is definitely a tie between what we grew-up using and what we use now. I always use the same type of deoderant (one of those, tried the others and this works best for me). I use the same hair care products. Most of the other stuff I'm flexible with... I use laundry detergent, dishwashing soap and toilet paper that are "green", so I'm limited in the valley to two varieties, though we've used both since we've been here. We really like "Mission" tortilla chips, and we also use the same toothpaste as you! :)

I've never been much of a brand snob. But if I have my choice it is always Cascade Complete dishwashing detergent. Force Flex Trash bags. Real mashed potatoes (not really a brand, I guess:) Huggies or Pampers diapers.

Dishwashing soap (Green box, name escapes me :)), laundry detergent (Tide or Gain) and deoderant (Dove, no stains), Trader Joes for cereal, WestSoy Unsweetened Vanilla Soy Milk...uh oh, I started to say I only have a few, but now I am thinking of tones I love. Cute post! Nestle's chocolate chips, Mary Kay foundation....

I am certainly a brand snob when it comes to certain things: Tide, Cascade, Quilted Northern, Swanson's Chicken broth, Old El Paso taco seasoning (although I really want to try yours), Nestle's chocolate chips, Q-Tips, and Huggies wipes (but I'll use either Huggies or Pampers for diapers). That's what I can think of now. I have relaxed my standards for name brands on things like fabric softener, dish soap, body wash, etc.

Oh and Meredith if you read this, my maiden name is Teagarden!!! I've never seen it outside of my family.
